David Williams-previousCommissioner David Williams was elected to the Board of County Commissioners in November 2020. He served as Vice-Chairman from 2021-2022. He has served on a number of other boards including Partners Health Management, Catawba River Water Supply Project, Centralina Regional Council, CRTPO, and the Union County Public Library. 

Commissioner Williams and his wife Emily reside in Indian Trail. Their two sons were educated in Union County Public Schools, and their daughter attends North Carolina State University. Commissioner Williams grew up in the Denver area in Arapahoe County, Colorado, and graduated cum laude from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee with a B.A. in Economics. He is a North Carolina attorney in good standing.

Commissioner Williams is active in his community and local causes. He enjoys history, gardening and genealogy, and is a direct descendant of David Williams, who was buried in Steele Creek Presbyterian cemetery in Mecklenburg County in 1777.

Commissioner Williams entered this position with the knowledge that he assumes a public trust, one that should be approached with humility and the best interest of Union County residents in mind. He believes in limited government, low taxes and faithful stewardship of the public purse.
