Union County honors employee years of service

Twenty of the 26 Union County employees honored during a recognition program on August 14, 2019.

Union County is recognizing dozens of employees this quarter for reaching milestone years working for Union County Government. In the third quarter, a total of 47 County employees were recognized for an employment anniversary of 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 years of service.

Supervisors from 12 County departments presented a service award to 26 County employees on Wednesday. Another 21 employees working for the Sheriff’s Office were recently recognized during a promotions ceremony hosted by the department. The total years of service among the 47 employees recognized this quarter amounts to 590 years!

“These employees have demonstrated their commitment to serving Union County residents,” said County Manager Mark Watson. “They’re appreciated, they’re valued and this organization would not be able to serve its community as well without them.”

Watson is among the recipients recognized for achieving 25 years with Union County Government. Several employees who have worked directly with Watson spoke about his dedication to Union County and his colleagues within the organization.

Lynn West, Clerk to the Board of Commissioners, has known Watson since he started working for Union County in 1994. “He is always quick to tout the accomplishments of Union County Government and to recognize the successes of the County’s employees,” West said. “A number of opportunities have been opened to our employees because of Mark’s innovative ideas and forward thinking.”

County Manager Mark Watson has worked for Union County since 1994 when he was hired as Personnel Director.

The Employee Recognition Program provides a special opportunity to recognize and reward the loyalty and dedication of Union County employees. This program recognizes employees' continuous length of service with Union County starting at five years of full-time service and increases by increments of five years.

In the first three quarters of 2019, Union County recognized a total of 99 employees.
